SSGA expands London team

State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation, has made several appointments to its London portfolio management teams, reflecting the expansion of the company’s UK business.

Bill Street has been hired as head of SSGA’s international active rates team, and has 15 years of fixed-income and derivatives trading experience. He joins from Hypovereinsbank in London, where he was head of fixed-income foreign exchange proprietary trading. He will report to Michael O’Hara, global head of active fixed-income portfolio management.

Peter Spano has joined the fixed-income beta solutions team as an investment manager. Spano was previously a portfolio manager for the official reserves of the National Bank of Slovakia. Lee Collins has also joined the team as an assistant investment manager, after transferring internally from SSGA’s fixed-income operations group. Spano and Collins will report to Kevin Anderson, head of international fixed-income beta solutions.

SSGA has increased its global structured products group by appointing Rob Dowling as a portfolio manager, bringing the total number of investment professionals on the index equity team to 13. Dowling will report to Richard Hannam, head of the global structured products group. Jenya Emets has transferred from SSGA’s Tokyo office to take up the position of product engineer on the European active equity team. Emets will report to Susanne Willumsen, a managing director of SSGA and head of the active Europe equity team. Emets will be involved in product development and research for new investment strategies.
