SFO head repeats calls for extended Bribery Act

Corporate liability should cover all economic crime, Green argues

Speaking on the second anniversary of his appointment as head of the UK Serious Fraud Office, David Green called for the landmark UK Bribery Act to be amended to make it easier to prosecute companies for fraud and other financial crimes.

The Bribery Act's Section 7 makes it an offence for corporate organisations to fail to prevent bribery on their behalf – but, Green said, a successful Section 7 prosecution requires the SFO to show that the company's "directing mind" is involved, normally taken
