Adoboli’s defence closes its case

The trial of Kweku Adoboli, which is currently in its eighth week, is drawing to an end as the defence closed its case today.

Adoboli faces two charges of fraud and four of false accounting relating to trades that lost the bank $2.3 billion in 2011. He denies the charges.

During the re-examination of Adoboli by Paul Garlick, for the defence, Adoboli denied the prosecution's claim he was "relaxed" when he discovered his losses had amounted to $2.3 billion on August 11, 2011. He said he had asked
