US power firms slam ISO New England over market ‘flaws’

As the northeast US prepares for winter, electricity firms are warning that flaws in the design of the New England power market will threaten the reliability of the region’s power supply in the event of an extended cold snap.

Moreover, market participants say ISO New England (ISO-NE) – the independent system operator (ISO) that runs the region’s power market – has been aware of the problems for years and failed to address them, instead resorting to stopgap fixes while the underlying problem
