Energy firms awarded UK offshore sites

Ten wind farm sites with a potential to generate a total of six gigawatts (GW) of electricity have been allocated to nine energy companies and consortia by the UK's Crown Estate.

The 10 'exclusivity agreements', all off the coast of Scotland, are designed to allow developers to begin initial survey and consultation processes for the sites while a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is completed for offshore wind within Scottish territorial waters.
