A new financial order is beginning to emerge so let's briefly deal with the UK's place in the global pecking order. We are the West Brom of the developed nations: a country with a long and proud history, but one that has seen better days. And by the time the real impact of this government's negligence is calculated, the UK will probably face the same fate as West Brom: relegation to the second tier. (Time will tell if we end up following Southampton's fate of complete freefall.)
