Barclays launches first locally listed ETNs on Toronto Stock Exchange

Three Barclays Bank iPath exchange-traded notes (ETNs) were listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) on April 13, offering exposure to volatility and crude oil. The notes are the first locally listed ETNs in Canada and are a sign of the country's developing exchange-traded products (ETP) market.

"Clients want access to those harder-to-reach asset classes, strategies or benchmarks that you cannot necessarily do in fund format," says Ian Merrill, New York-based director of product origination
