Derivatives are a growth area for Northern Trust, the provider of asset servicing and management. Stephen Andress was appointed global head of derivatives operations in August 2006 to oversee the development of its back-office derivatives processing business - a new position created in response to growing enthusiasm for derivatives among the company's clients - and the spike in activity has continued.
Since he started at Northern Trust, Andress has seen a big increase in the over-the-counter
