Structured products need better explanation, says HK regulator

While Hong Kong retail investors in structured products are generally experienced in financial investing, their understanding of such products needs strengthening, found the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission (SFC) in a recent survey (see also page 16). The message was reinforced by Alexa Lam, executive director of intermediaries and investment products at the SFC, in a speech at the Asia Risk annual conference in November.

Six out of 10 investors surveyed had over five years' financial
