Thai derivatives rules get mixed welcome

Thailand's new regulations on the trading of derivatives and structured products, issued in early August, are getting mixed reviews. On one hand, commercial banks have welcomed the clarifications made by the new rules and the broadening of the scope of products that may be traded. Yet others say the regulations have introduced more confusion and will await new regulations under the Exchange Control Act that is due out in mid-September to help clarify trading requirements.
