People: CFTC picks enforcement and legislative affairs chiefs

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has appointed James McDonald as director of the regulator’s enforcement division, and Charles Thornton as head of the Office of Legislative Affairs, on April 10 and 17 respectively.

McDonald joins the CFTC after three years as assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York, before which he spent three years in Washington, DC, as a litigation associate at law firm Williams & Connolly.
