Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) is a unified data management, analytics and machine learning platform for managing and modelling risk exposures. It enables institutions to take in, process and analyse high volumes of streaming data including market, transaction and alternative data, as well as data from traditional enterprise sources such as core banking, treasury and trading platforms. Users can build, test and monitor machine learning models for advanced risk analysis, while the platform maintains strict enterprise data security, governance, compliance and data lineage across environments.

CDP features three services – Cloudera Data Warehouse, Cloudera Machine Learning and Cloudera Data Hub.

Cloudera Data Warehouse facilitates the massive volumes of data needed for risk modelling and predictive, complex analytics. Built on proven high-performance Structured Query Language engines, its features include auto-provisioning for rapidly loading special projects and priority workloads, cloud optimisation for scaling and suspending resources on-demand, self-service workload management for handling unpredictable workload demands, and a ‘zero-copy simplicity’ function that eliminates the need to copy data into proprietary stores.

Cloudera Machine Learning optimises machine learning workflows with features such as the ability to deploy new machine learning workspaces in a few clicks, including access to relevant project environments and resources, and a rapid replication facility that provides access to datasets across hybrid and multi-cloud environments while maintaining enterprise data security and governance controls. Data engineering, model training, experiment tracking and deployment and management of production models all take place in a single integrated environment. New MLOps features for monitoring the functional and business performance of machine learning models include the ability to detect model performance over time with native storage and access to custom and arbitrary model metrics, and measurement and tracking of individual prediction accuracy to help ensure models are compliant and performing optimally.

Cloudera Data Hub is a cloud service that enables customers to seamlessly migrate on-premises data and workloads to the cloud.

Shared Data Experience (SDX) is Cloudera’s enterprise-wide data security and privacy technology. Built into CDP, SDX enables safe and compliant self-service access to data and analytics. Multi-tenant data access and governance policies are set once and automatically enforced across the data lifecycle. The Control Plane user interface includes tools for data management, workload analysis, data movement and data discovery.

CDP is available for Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, as well as for deployment on-premise and in private clouds.

Judges said:

  • “A comprehensive and well-structured application.”
  • “An impressive and detailed product, with a focus on features and functions.”
  • “Cloudera and its product are impressive on all fronts – partners, technology, security, performance, use of artificial intelligence and customer base.”

Joe Rodriguez, managing director, financial services, Cloudera, says:

CDP is an enterprise data platform that optimises risk management with predictive analytics and machine learning. CDP provides an end-to-end data lifecycle combining and correlating risk data sources to enable timely and accurate insights from the data. As an open-source platform, CDP complements an organisation’s existing risk infrastructure and can be deployed in a private, public or hybrid cloud, or on-premise. Cloudera’s SDX manages security and governance consistently across deployments while also maintaining data lineage and traceability of risk models. Cloudera is a trusted provider to financial services and insurance firms globally.”
