Cayman Islands: Facing a challenging future with confidence

There is no doubt the global financial crisis is affecting the Cayman Islands and specifically its hedge funds industry. As Carlyle McLaughlin, chairman of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), said at an international funds conference in January 2009, the Cayman Islands is at a crossroads. Despite the global economic climate, he believes Cayman will be able to find a productive niche, guaranteeing its future as an international financial centre.
