Investors call for structured products

Unsatisfied demand for structured products such as capital guaranteed funds is huge with a potential market worth between $50bn and $80bn, according to Jean-Luc Bernardi, head of European equity derivatives at Citigroup.

Bernardi told the IRC Hedge 2003 conference in London that regulations that prevented wider investment in vanilla, unwrapped hedge funds also drive the demand for structured products, alongside investors' wishes to avoid fund 'blow-ups'.
